Technical Tip: How to enable SAML configuration on FortiClient

Description This article describes how to make it possible to configure SAML on FortiClient.
Scope FortiGate, FortiClient.
Solution

To enable SAML authentication, it is necessary to enable the SSO feature from the FortiClient settings first. 

 

  1. Select the hamburger menu next to VPN Name and add a new connection or edit the existing one.

  1. Fill in the necessary fields according to requirements.

Note: Enabling the 'Use external browser' option will force the SAML authentication to use the default external browser configured on the Windows Operating system. Disabling this option will force FortiClient to use the internal browser for SAML authentication.

  1. After, save the settings and note the output below. Selecting connect later will redirect to the SAML authentication page.
