Technical Tip: How to download debug.log file at different FortiOS version

Description

The debug.log file contains a lot of useful information which helps to simplify troubleshooting and decrease time to resolve issues.

This article describes how to download the debug.log file  at different FortiOS version.

Scope

FortiGate.

Solution

For v5.2.x.

Go to System -> Config -> Advanced and then select the 'Download Debug Log' option.

For v5.4.x to v6.2.2.

Go to System -> Advanced -> Debug Logs and then select the 'Download Debug Logs' option.

For v6.2.3, v6.4, v7.0 and v7.2 branch:

Go to System -> Settings -> Debugs Logs and then select the 'Download' option.

For v7.4 and v7.6.x.

Go to System -> Settings -> FortiCare Debug Report and then select the 'Download' option. It is also possible to download it by selecting the question mark on the top right and selecting FortiCare Debug Report.
