Description This article describes how to do the same edit in multiple policies through GUI.
Scope FortiGate v7.0 and above.
Solution
  1. For example, let's edit schedules for all the policies. Just use 'shift+click' on the first policy (just select the first policy will also be fine) and then the same 'shift+click' on the last policy, and then just select the edit option on one policy for schedule, make changes, and hit apply. It will update that edit on all policies, like below.

  1. If the changes need to be done on alternative policies or on some policies only, then use 'Ctrl+click' on the first policy (just select the first policy will also be fine), and then the same 'Ctrl+click' on the policy that needs changes too and then just select edit on one policy for the schedule, make changes, and hit apply. It will update that edit on all selected policies, like below.

Note: On FortiOS v7.0 and v7.2, all the fields of the firewall policies can be modified. Starting from version 7.4, only a few key fields can be modified across multiple selected policies: Changing the Status, Source, Destination, Security Profiles, or deleting the selected policies.

For a change to be applied to multiple selected policies, the 'Use New Layout' option needs to be selected for the checkbox next to each policy to be visible. It will not appear when 'Classic Layout' is being used. To change from 'Classic Layout' navigate to Firewall & Objects -> Firewall Policy. The drop-down option to change to 'Use New Layout' is located in the top right corner above the policy list and situated under the administrator name that is currently logged in. If the checkbox next to each policy is already visible, continue with the steps below.

Select all the policies that need to be changed. Then select 'Change Source' at the top.

An address object 'all' can be selected and applied to all the selected policies.

After applying the changes, the policies are updated with all as the source:
