Description This article describes an alternate method to decommission a FortiGate device from FortiCloud support Portal.
Scope FortiGate, FortiGate Cloud.
Solution

Note:

The process detailed below removes existing firewall licenses and removes the serial number from managed assets. It should only be used when decommissioning a device before disposal.

To deregister from FortiCloud Portal:

Visit https://support.fortinet.com portal and select Products -> Product List:

Select Product Serial Number and decommission this unit:

Go to More Views -> Decommissioned Products -> Deregister:

Note:

When decommissioning a virtual machine or a device registered under three years, the following error will be displayed:

If a physical unit has been registered for fewer than three years, reach out to Customer Support to decommission the device.

FortiGate VM cannot be deregistered, only FortiGate hardware devices.

If it is necessary to disconnect a device from a FortiGate Cloud logging and central-management without removing licenses or decommissioning the device, go to System -> FortiGuard -> FortiGate Cloud and select Logout in FortiGate GUI.
