Description This article describes how to create WIFI MAP from FortiAP Status Monitor.
Scope FortiGate.
Solution

FortiGate allows the upload of a custom map, enabling the placement of FortiAP units on it. WiFi Maps provide real-time status and alerts for each FortiAP, making it easy to view their locations and monitor their current status on the map.

 

To configure WIFI MAP from FortiAP Status Monitor.

  1. Go to Dashboard -> Add Monitor -> FortiAP Status.

  1. Go to Dashboard -> FortiAP Status Monitor -> Select FortiAP, 'right-click' over FortiAP, and select: Diagnostics and Tools.

  1. After selecting Diagnostics and Tools, in a new window select: WiFi Map and select Add the FortiAP to a WiFi map option.

  1. A new window will be opened. WiFi & Switch Controller -> WiFi Maps -> Add Map, to configure WiFi Map settings:

 

  • Map name.
  • Map image.
  • Add FortiAP to the WiFi Map.
  • FortiAP WiFi Maps allow: 
    • Move FortiAP to any point on the Map.
    • Run Diagnostics and Tools.
    • Remove FortiAP.
    • Display FortiAP Bands Information: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz.
    • Display FortiAP Client Count: Operating TX Power, Channel Utilization.
