Description

 

This article describes how to check the estimated bandwidth.

 

Scope

 

FortiGate.

Solution


The Results of the test can be added to the interface’s estimated bandwidth.
A SD-WAN Network Monitor license is required.

The License widget displays the SD-WAN network monitor license status.

 
To run the test.
  1. Go to Network -> Interfaces.
  2. Edit a WAN interface. The interfaces can be grouped by role using the grouping dropdown on the right side of the toolbar.
  3. Select 'Execute speed test' in the right pane.
 
 
  1. When the test is completed, select 'Apply results' to the estimated bandwidth.
 
 
The results are used to populate the Estimated bandwidth fields.
 
  1. Select 'OK'.
     
Note: The FortiGate has to be connected to FortiGuard and able to reach either the AWS or Google speed test servers.
 
If 'Execute speed test' button will be greyed out if there is no SD-WAN Network monitor license. When hovering over the button, it shows below message:

When performing a speed test using CLI, it will show below error if there is no valid SD-WAN Network Monitoring License:
 
FGT # execute speed-test
Failed to get a valid SD-WAN Monitoring (SWNM) license to execute speed test.
Command fail. Return code 25
