Description

 

This article includes a basic description of steps required to allow some web sites which may be blocked because of FortiGate AntiVirus settings if a web site has Flash content.


Scope

 

FortiOS 3.0, NAT or Transparent mode.


Solution

 
If issues are encountered with websites using Flash content, use the following steps to allow this specific type of media while not opening a FortiGate unit to any more vulnerabilities.
 

To exempt a file type from getting blocked by Antivirus:

  1. Go to Firewall -> Protection Profile.
  2. Select Edit for a protection profile.
  3. Select the expand arrow for Anti-Virus, to see which list is in use for File Filter.
  4. Go to Anti-Virus -> File Filter.
  5. Select Edit for the required list.
  6. Select Create New.
  7. Select Filter type 'File Name Pattern' and enter the following:
  • Pattern: *.swf
  • Action: Allow
  • Enable: checked

 

  1. Select OK.
  2. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for extension .fla.
