Description | This article describes how to access a managed FortiAP GUI. This is mostly helpful when FortiAP shows offline due to firmware compatibility with FortiOS, meaning a firmware upgrade on the FortiAP will become easier through the GUI. |
Scope | FortiAP, FortiOS. |
Solution |
When the managed FortiAP shows offline, consider that the issue is with the compatibility between the FortiAP and FortiOS version. In this scenario, even if the FortiAP shows offline and if the FortiGate is providing the IP to the AP, it is possible to detect the FortiAP IP address from the DHCP monitor on the FortiGate.
Using the FortiAP IP, it is possible to access the FortiAP from the machine which is in the same subnet as of the FortiAP, or a firewall policy can be created from a LAN interface to a interface where the FortiAP is connected to.
In the example policy below, a PC accessing the FortiAP is in internal network and the FortiAP is in the default VLAN.
Once the rule is created FortiAP can then be accessible from the GUI.
By default, the FortiAP credentials are 'admin' with no password. |
