Description This article describes how the passive-interface in RIP works and commands to change it.
Scope
Solution

By default, RIP sends updates on all interfaces on which RIP is enabled.

For example, if it is running on 10.0.0.0/8 interfaces (all interfaces which address beginning with 10.) and to stop updating on a particular interface, use the passive-interface command.

It is possibe to block RIP broadcasts on the specified interface.

It is possible to use '# config neighbor' and the passive-interface command to allow RIP to send unicast updates to the specified neighbor while blocking broadcast updates on the specified interface.

# config router ri
    set passive-interface <int name 1> <int name 2> ...
end
