Description This article explains an issue where the FortiToken Mobile application fails to launch on iOS devices after enabling or disabling app notifications. This issue is observed after upgrading to FortiToken Mobile v5.5.0.0139 and affects various iOS versions, including iOS 17.6.1, 18.3.1, 18.3.2, 18.4.1, and 18.5.
Scope FortiToken Mobile v5.5.0, iOS 17.6.1, iOS 18.3.1, iOS 18.3.2, iOS 18.4.1, iOS 18.5.
Solution

After upgrading the FortiToken Mobile application to v5.5.0.0139, the application may crash upon launch if the notification settings are modified. This includes toggling notifications on or off from the iOS Settings menu.

Affected Devices and OS Versions:

  • iPhone 11/iOS 17.6.1.

  • iOS 18.3.1.

  • iOS 18.3.2.

  • iOS 18.4.1.

  • iOS 18.5.

To resolve the issue, enable notifications for the FortiToken Mobile application on the iPhone: under Settings -> Notifications -> FortiToken, enable Allow Notifications, and relaunch the FortiToken Mobile app.

The application should now launch correctly and display the configured tokens.

Additionally, this issue is resolved in FortiToken Mobile v5.5.1.0140. Upgrading to this version restores expected functionality:

  • Disabling app notifications in iOS may prevent the FortiToken Mobile app from launching properly.
  • No changes are required on the FortiGate or FortiAuthenticator configurations.
