Technical Tip: FortiGate link is not coming up after upgrading FortiGate

Description

This article describes that the FortiGate link is not coming up after upgrading to v7.4.5.
Scope FortiGate-1100E, 2200E, 3300E, 3400E, and 3600E.
Solution

State of peer ports of FortiGate ports (negotiated speed, 1G) is down after the upgrade.

This issue has been officially resolved in v7.4.8 and v7.6.3: FortiOS 7.6.3 Release Note (Bug 1094404) 

 

Workaround:
Modify the peer switch configuration by setting the affected 1G ports from 1000auto to 1000full duplex mode.
