Description This article describes how to filter policies in FortiGate to view only policies matching the filter. If there are too many firewall policies configured in the firewall, it can be difficult to find the desired firewall policy or it may not appear. This article covers both situations.
Scope FortiOS v6.4 or above.
Solution

How to filter:

  1. If the firewall policy ID is known, the best option is to filter the policy using the ID. It is possible to filter single policies, multiple policies, or a range using the ID.

  1. If the ID is not known, use any other field to narrow down the filtering, such as From, To, source, destination, etc.
     Example: Filtering with the source.

  2. If the ID or any required column is missing, follow the instructions in the screenshot below to add it to the column. 'Right-clicking' on the title row will show the list of column names.

If a firewall policy is missing or cannot be found:

In this case, the first screenshot makes it evident that there are 17 firewall policies. However, the screenshots below show only 2.

This may occur due to a pre-filtered firewall policy page in the GUI. The admin may have forgotten to clear the filter, meaning the GUI has retained a filter from a previous search. As a result, the GUI will always show the filtered result. Clearing the filter will show the complete list of the policies configured in the firewall.
