Technical Tip: FortiGate-50G GUI problems after upgrade to v7.0.17

Description

This article provides information about the current problem, where the GUI admin does not load some pages for FortiGate-50G on v7.0.17.

Scope

FortiGate-50G.

Solution

Current GUI problems are:

• Creating new user groups will fail to load the page.
• Editing or creating new firewall policies will fail on the loading page.
• Creating a new Firewall Virtual IP may present an 'Invalid HTTP request' message.

Workaround:

1. Either use the edit option available within the policy or edit via the CLI. The issue is reproducible when the policy is opened and then edited.
2. Create a new policy via CLI, so the GUI can later be used to edit it as explained in the pointer above.
3. Open a TAC case to get a special branch fix for FortiGate/FortiWifi 5XG series v7.0.17.
4. Upgrade to Forti OS v7.4.8. 

Note:

In the special build 50G/b7592 or 51G/b7598, the customer is able to access the Firewall Policy page without issues. However, the User Definition page, while it loads the list of users, fails to open the Edit User view - it remains stuck on a blank screen.

The issue has been resolved in v7.4.8 GA (build 2795). Upgrading to that version is recommended to apply the fix.
