Description

This article describes how to monitor estimated bandwidth for internal or LAN ports, as well as how to monitor bandwidth usage via an automation stitch script.

Scope FortiOS 6.X and 7.X.
Solution

The estimated bandwidth fields are present for the default WAN ports like WAN1, and WAN2 in the GUI of the FortiGate.

This is because, by default, the role of these ports is set to 'WAN'.  They are not present for internal ports as the default role is 'LAN'.

These can be changed as the name of the interface has no bearing on the role which can be assigned.

Use a CLI command to set estimated bandwidth for internal ports if it is not wanted to change the role:

Whichever ports have an estimated bandwidth set can be monitored using an automation stitch script, as described in this article.
