Description This article describes an issue where FortiGate is unable to retrieve logs from the log location 'Disk'.
Scope FortiGate v7.4.7.
Solution

The error 'Fetching data from Disk is taking longer than expected. Suggest trying a different log source or check the availability of Disk.' This occurs when attempting to view forward traffic logs by navigating to Log & Report -> Forward Traffic Logs with the log location set to 'Disk'.

The issue must probably occur due to some error in the File System ,which has to be repaired by the disk scan
To execute the Disk scan, follow the steps below:

exe disk list

execute disk scan 259
(press Y)

The 259 is related to the disk ref from the 'exe disk list' command. There is an example of this procedure using the 101F as a model:

After the Disk Scan, the system will reboot the Device in order to finish the procedure.

The recommendation is to execute the steps on a maintenance window due to the downtime required while the Device reboots and execute the Diagnose on the Disk.

Note: If the issue persists after following the above instructions, it may be related to a known issue (ID 1113588), which is resolved in FortiGate versions 7.4.9, 7.6.4. The issue specifically affects the ability to check logs for a 7-day period, while log checks for shorter durations such as 5 minutes or 24 hours are not impacted.
