Description This article describes how to setup email alerts to be sent out when connectivity between the local FortiGate and FortiGuard is lost.
Scope FortiOS 6.x, 7.x
Solution

Create an automation stitch with the predefined FortiGuard triggers.

 

1) Create a new automation stitch by going to Security Fabric - > Automation, and select 'Create New'.

 

2) Assign a name, chose 'Add Trigger', then select 'Create'.

3) Select 'FortiOS Event Log'.

 

4) Assign a name, and select the proper event log to trigger the alert, namely 'FortiGuard hostname unresolvable' and 'FortiGuard service failed to restore'. Once selected, chose 'OK'.

5) Select the newly created trigger, and select 'Apply'.

 

6) Select 'Add action', chose 'Create' and then select 'Email'.

 

7) Fill the fields: 'To', 'From', and 'Subject', and select 'OK'.

 

8) Select the newly created action, then select 'Apply'.

 

9) Review your automation stitch configuration, when done select 'OK'.
