This article provides basic steps to enable "Email Generated Reports" when the checkbox is grayed out.
Solution
In order to solve this issue in FortiOS v5.4, check the following steps:
1) Configure Mail server under System > Advanced > Email Service.
2) Configure Alert Email under Log & Report.
3) Enable Local reports in CLI.
# config system settings
(settings) # set gui-local-reports enable
(settings) # end
4) The "Email Generated Reports" checkbox should now be available under Local reports > Report Options.
