Technical Note: How to enable 'Email Generated Reports' when the checkbox is grayed out

Description

This article provides basic steps to enable "Email Generated Reports" when the checkbox is grayed out.

Scope

FortiGate.

Solution

To solve this issue in v5.4, check the following steps:

1. Configure Mail server under System > Advanced > Email Service.
2. Configure Alert Email under Log & Report.
3. Enable Local reports in CLI.

config system settings

(settings) # set gui-local-reports enable

(settings) # end

4. The 'Email Generated Reports' checkbox should now be available under Local Reports -> Report Options. For newer FortiOS versions, refer to this article: Troubleshooting Tip: Email Generated Reports button is grayed out
