By default, the name (Host Name) of a FortiGate unit is the model number of the unit or its serial number. The hostname can be changed to be something easier to identify if there are multiple FortiGate units.
To change the hostname, go to System -> Settings and change the hostname at the top.
Note that only the letters of the English alphabet ('A' to 'Z', and 'a' to 'z'), the digits ('0' to '9'), and the '_' (underscore character) can be used for the hostname.
