Description This arcticle describes the steps to address the FortiExtender error 'Monitord process may not be running, please try again'.
Scope FortiExtender v7.4.6 and v7.6.1
Solution

When the FortiExtender displays the error 'Monitord process may not be running, please try again', some commands will not provide any outputs on the FortiExtender CLI and the FortiExtender GUI access may not work.

The 'get system app-status' output may show a STOP app-status for the 'SSHD' and 'GUI' processes:

get system app-status

To address this, the following can be tried:

  1. On the FortiExtender CLI, execute the below command and thereafter, log out and log in to the FortiExtender CLI and verify if the commands work fine again:

execute disconnect-admin-session all admin

  1. Alternatively, the user can download FortiGate and FortiExtender config backup and then try deleting and re-creating the default 'admin' account on the FortiExtender CLI: Activate the default admin account - FortiExtender administration guide.
