Description

This article describes the steps to download the MIB File from the FortiExtender.

Unlike FortiGate and other fabric devices, the FortiExtender does not have the MIB file on the support portal (support.fortinet.com). The MIB file must be downloaded from the FortiExtender itself because it must be uploaded to the SNMP server so that the SNMP server can monitor the FortiExtenders and send traps for particular OIDs.

Refer to Configurations: SNMP-FortiExtender.

Scope All FortiExtenders.
Solution
  1. The MIB file can be downloaded by exporting it from the FortiExtender using TFTP.
  2. Install a TFTP server that is reachable to the FortiExtender.
  3. A TFTP server can be installed on a PC that is connected to the same network as the FortiExtender.

To export the MIB file, execute the following commands on the FortiExtender CLI:

FX511FTQ2XXXXXX # execute snmpmibs export tftp?
FORTINET-CORE-MIB.mib                                           download FORTINET-CORE-MIB.mib
FORTINET-FORTIEXTENDER-MIB.mib                                  download FORTINET-FORTIEXTENDER-MIB.mib

Note:

  • After executing the command, the TFTP server IP address is to be specified.
  • FORTINET-CORE-MIB.mib is to be downloaded additionally when FortiExtender is managed by FortiGate.

For example:

FXE11FS2220XXXXX # execute snmpmibs export tftp FORTINET-FORTIEXTENDER-MIB.mib 192.168.100.5

FORTINET-CORE-MIB.mib 100% |*************************************************************| 13160 0:00:00 ETA
snmpmibs downloaded!

This process will successfully export and download the MIB files from the FortiExtender to the local PC.
