This article describes how to manage applications (or specific application versions) listed under Communication Control.
Scope
Communication Control – managing applications and application versions (delete outdated, old, and unused applications).
FortiEDR console -> Navigate to Communication Control -> Applications.
Solution
Discovered applications are retained in Communication Control indefinitely unless manually deleted. This list is not automatically cleaned up and will accumulate all previously seen applications, even if they are no longer in use.
To maintain a clean and manageable internal database, the following best practices are advised:
- It is recommended to perform an annual review and manually delete outdated or unused application entries.
- This action is safe; deleted applications will be relearned automatically when they next communicate externally.
- Note: The 'First Seen' date will reset upon rediscovery of any deleted applications.
