Description This article describes how to troubleshoot if SSID is not visible on clients when FortiAP is unlicensed on FortiEdge Cloud.
Scope FortiEdge Cloud, FortiAP.
Solution

Starting from 31ST march 2025, the existing Freemium device counts will be reduced as per the below document:

FortiLAN Cloud vs FortiEdge Cloud | FortiEdge Cloud 25.1.0 | Fortinet Document Library

  • On March 31st, 2025, when enforcement becomes active, the FortiEdge Cloud controller will force all Freemium FortiAPs to rejoin the network.
  • During this reconnection process, any FortiAP with more than 2 SSIDs configured in the Platform Profile will have only 2 SSIDs/radios pushed to the FortiAP.
  • Those SSIDs are the first two configured (by creation date and not by display)
  • Configuration settings for the disabled SSIDs will remain stored in the FortiEdge Cloud system but will not be pushed to the FortiAP until a proper license is applied.

If clients are unable to see 2 SSIDs per radio, check the configuration below and apply the below workaround until the purchase of an Advance Management license for the FortiAP's

Note: Take a screenshot backup of the changes done on FortiAP so it can be applied later.

If FortiAP is applied with any tag, remove the tag from Unlicensed FortiAPs using the below path: Login in FortiEdge Cloud -> Networks -> Network settings -> Device Tag.

Remove tag from SSID:

Login to FortiEdge Cloud -> Networks ->Wireless -> SSID -> Next ->Next, select available to all APs under 'By Access Points'.
