Description | This article describes why Microsoft Outlook produces a pop-up warning when FortiClient Antivirus is installed. |
Scope | FortiClient 7.0.x and above. |
Solution |
Sometimes when a new FortiClient version is installed (after an upgrade from an older version), Microsoft Outlook presents the following pop-up error:
A program is trying to access email address information stored in Outlook. If this is unexpected, click Deny and verify your antivirus software is up-to-date.
This behavior is expected and is not an issue with FortiClient. The prompt may appear when the Outlook Trust Center settings are set to 'Warn me about suspicious activity when my antivirus software is inactive or out-of-date'. In Outlook:
Go to Outlook -> File -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings -> Programmatic Access.
