Description This article describes the incompatibility between FortiClient and Cisco Umbrella Roaming Client.
Scope All FortiClient versions.
Solution

When both FortiClient and Cisco Umbrella Roaming Client are installed in the same machine, the following issues may arise:

 

  1. When connected to FortiGate SSLVPN or IPsec VPN, certain routes are not injected in routing table on the endpoint.
  2. When connected to FortiGate SSLVPN or IPsec VPN, DNS server on the virtual adapter is not being set correctly.
  3. When connected to FortiGate SSLVPN or IPsec VPN, DNS resolution is not working as expected.
  4. FortiClient ZTNA features will be interfered or blocked by Cisco Umbrella Roaming Client.

Both FortiClient and Cisco Umbrella Roaming Client manipulate DNS for their respective features, hence making both software incompatible with each other.
This is outlined in Cisco Umbrella Compatibility Guide.

Solution: When using FortiClient, uninstall Cisco Umbrella Roaming Client to avoid conflict.
