Description This article describes how to troubleshoot when the endpoint status is not updated in FortiClient EMS.
Scope FortiClient EMS.
Solution

In some scenarios, FortiClient endpoints may appear online, on-fabric, and the telemetry is connected on the endpoint itself, while the same endpoint is displayed as offline(Away), off fabric, and not managed in FortiClient EMS.

This indicates that the status from the endpoint is not being synchronized with the FortiClient EMS server.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Verify Endpoint status.
  • On the endpoint, check the profile tab in FortiClient.
  • Compare the displayed status against the status shown for the same endpoint in FortiClient EMS.

  1. Check FortiClient EMS Services:
  • On the FortiClient EMS Server, confirm that all FortiClient EMS-related services are running.
  • For this issue, pay particular attention to the FCEMS_Notify service. If this service is stopped or stuck in the Starting state, endpoint statuses cannot be updated in FortiClient EMS.

  1. Restart FCEMS_Notify Services:
  • Attempt to restart the FCEMS_Notify service directly from Task Manager -> Services.
  • If the service fails to restart, proceed to the next step.

  1. Verify SQL Server browser service:

  • Open SQL Server Configuration Manager on the FortiClient EMS server.
  • Ensure the SQL Server Browser Service is set to Enabled and Running.
  • Start or restart this service if necessary.
  • Once the SQL Browser Service is running, restart FCEMS_Notify. The service should now start successfully.

  1. Verify endpoint status in FortiClient EMS:

Return to FortiClient EMS and check the endpoint list. Endpoint statuses should now update correctly.
