Description

This article describes how to troubleshoot the error 'Error: Failed to connect to server. Please check server IP and host connection' when trying to import the Web filter profile from FortiGate into EMS:

Scope FortiClient EMS v7.2.x.
Solution
  1. Ensure there is no firewall rule blocking on the FortiGate side.
  2. In FortiOS, go to Network -> Interfaces, select the desired port, and under Administrative Access, enable the HTTPS checkbox
  3. If using a custom port for FortiGate access, specify the IP address and port ( <ip address>:<port>)

For this sample case, it failed due to FortiGate using a custom port. Attempt to re-import after re-configured as suggested above and it should succeed without prompt error and request to select the Webfilter profile that would like to import into EMS.
