Description This article clarifies Hardware ID and License structure on EMS
Scope FortiClient EMS on-premises.
Solution

The EMS and the Hardware ID information in the license file must be the same to be licensed.

  1. Go to EMS -> Dashboard -> Status -> Config License to access the Hardware ID information of the EMS.

  1. To find the Hardware ID defined for the license, log in to the ‘support.fortinet.com’ portal and then expand the relevant license under Services -> Asset Management -> Product List.

  1. To upload the license to the EMS, the Hardware ID in the license file must match the Hardware ID on the EMS. If this information does not match, it is possible to get assistance in changing it by contacting the Customer Services Team. After the Hardware ID has changed, it is possible to manually or automatically upload the license file to the EMS as shown below.
