Description This article describes a scenario where it is difficult to upload the SSL certificate on the EMS server.
Scope FortiClient EMS.
Solution
  1. Conflict Resolution between Apache and IIS:

    • When attempting to restart the EMS server, it was noticed that the Apache service was not functioning correctly. The root cause was identified as the Internet Information Services (IIS) running concurrently on the same server.
    • To resolve this conflict, the IIS was stopped, which allowed the Apache service to operate normally and provided access to the EMS server.
  2. SSL Certificate Conversion:

    • The .crt file was converted to the .pfx format.
    • Post-conversion, the certificate was successfully uploaded to the EMS server.

Outcome:

After performing the above steps, the SSL certificate upload issue on the EMS server was successfully resolved.

Recommendations:

  • Ensure that Apache and IIS services do not conflict on the same server. If both services are needed, consider running them on separate servers or different ports.
  • Always ensure that the certificate format is compatible with the platform. Convert certificates to the necessary format before attempting to upload.
