Description This article provides step-by-step instructions for resetting the admin password on the EMS server version 7.4.0 on a Ubuntu server.
Scope FortiClient EMS 7.4.0.
Solution

Prerequisites:

 

'Root' or 'sudo' access to the Ubuntu server where FortiClient EMS 7.4.0 is installed.

 

Procedure:

 

  • Log in to the Linux server where FortiClient EMS is installed.
  • Ensure to have the necessary root or 'sudo' privileges to perform administrative tasks.
  • Open a terminal window.
  • Execute the following command to initiate the password recovery process:

sudo /opt/forticlientems/bin/PasswordRecovery

 

  • This will show a prompt to confirm and reset the admin password.
  • Follow the additional prompts or instructions that appear on the screen to complete the password recovery process.
  • Once the recovery process is complete, it will show a prompt to set a new password for the EMS admin account. Choose a secure password and enter it as prompted.
  • In some cases, it might be necessary to restart the EMS service to apply the changes. To do this run the following command:

sudo systemctl restart forticlientems

 

After completing the above steps, it is possible to log in to the FortiClient EMS web interface using the newly set admin password.
