Free FortiClient will offer only the basic VPN features. (AV and other features are no longer present). See this document: FortiClient standalone and licensed version feature comparison for further information.

Features not supported with free FortiClient:
Tickets can be reported by users for VPN issues with a FortiGate serial number managed by the FortiOS team. The user should be informed that there is no technical Support for a free FortiClient.
The issue will be investigated from the FortiOS side, but if the problem is found with the client side, the user must be informed to upgrade to a paid version for support to be provided. There is no Technical support for a free user from any Support Team.
FortiClient v7.4.4 does not include a free VPN-only agent. As a result of this, the 'Remote Access' option will not be visible. Users can continue to use the FortiClient 7.4.3 free VPN-only agent: FortiClient feature comparison: 7.4.4.
