| Description | This article describes how to check and verify why the web filter module is showing 'Disable' on the FortiClient GUI |
| Scope | FortiClient, FortiClient EMS. |
| Solution |
Sometimes the web & video filter feature is visible on FortiClient GUI, but is shown as 'Disabled' status even though it is enabled in the endpoint policy, as shown below.
To troubleshoot this issue, check and confirm that the installer includes the web filter module and is also enabled.
Check the feature status of the client machine. If the web filter is NOT installed, it should show 'Web Filter not installed'.
The status below means the web filter is installed but not enabled.
Double-check the assigned endpoint profile, make sure the feature is toggled on, and there is a sub-setting called 'Only When Endpoint is Off-Fabric', which may also cause the issue if the web filter does not work properly when the endpoint is on fabric.
If the web filter is to be used on-fabric and off-fabric status, change this option to 'Always On'.
