Description

This article describes the differences between the mobile versions and computer versions for Apple devices.

Scope

FortiClient 7.0.9 & 7.0.8, FortiGate.

Solution

In the Apple App Store, there are 2 different FortiClient versions, but both of these are mobile versions (developed for the iPad and iPhone).

'FortiClient VPN' = Free FortiClient
'FortiClient' = EMS version

It may be possible to download and install them on a Mac because it already has a M1 CPU chip, which enables the installation of mobile applications.

Both of these FortiClient mobile versions from the App Store are limited, meaning that they do not have all features included (for example, the OS Host Check) as compared to the full FortiClient versions that are available for download and installation on the Fortinet website.

MacOS users are recommended to use the MacOS version from the Fortinet website instead of the app store.
