Description This article descries how to fix the FortiAuthenticator error: Warning: RADIUS server running in limited edition.

Solution

If radius authentication is failing for users, it is possible to verify error in the Logging -> Log Access -> Logs.

Checking debug radius we might see something similar.

2021-12-30T09:55:27.361591-05:00 'hostname' radiusd[27840]: (6) Invalid user (facauth: Warning: client not permitted in limited edition. :( [username@domain.com@...] (from client localhost port 20)

 

These errors indicates to issue with the FortiAuthenticator license.

Check System ->  Dashboard -> Status >- License Information.

Again, in the Logging -> Log Access -> Logs, it is possible to search word 'license' as keyword in the search bar in right corner.

It is necessary to change the IP address defined by the FortiAuthenticator-VM on support.fortinet.com.

Then download the license with the new information and install it on the FortiAuthenticator-VM.

 

Reboot the FortiAuthenticator to apply the changes.
