Description This article describes the typical circumstances behind the 'FortiToken Cloud Activation'.
Scope FortiAuthenticator.
Solution

Event ID 10105 refers to the process logs for FortiToken Cloud (also known as FortiIdentity) activation. FortiToken Cloud is NOT referring to soft or hard tokens. If there is any valid Fortinet device contract, three user-license are offered. The free three-user license include three realms and IdP proxy for unlimited downstream Fortinet devices and 1 upstream remote IdP. The free three-user license expires at the same time as the support contract of the device does.

This does not include an SMS quota by default, so check with the respective local Fortinet Sales if this feature is required. Alternatively, a 30-day free trial is also available for users without any valid Fortinet device contract. For more information, refer to How to add licenses - FortiIdentity Cloud documentation.

The example system event message(s) will look like the following:

Sending notification to user:

date=2025-08-04 time=20:13:33+0000 oid=8888 logid=10105 cat="Event" subcat="Admin Configuration" level="notice" nas="" action="" status="" msg="FortiToken Cloud provisioned with FortiToken Mobile. The user was notified by Email (user: admin)" user=""

FortiToken Cloud activation supports both SMS and email as an OTP method. Hence, the user must have configured mobile numbers or an email address that can be synced and polled from respective remote authentication servers before assigning FortiToken Cloud.

For configuration steps, refer to the admin guide:
