Description

This article describes how to add the list of MAC addresses of devices to FortiAuthenticator using the correct syntax.

Scope

FortiAuthenticator.

Solution

The correct syntax of the .csv data of the devices with their MAC addresses that need to be imported should be as: <name>,<macaddress>, <description>.

A sample .csv table with some MAC devices and with their details shown as below:

To import the MAC devices onto FortiAuthenticator, the following path needs to be followed:  Authentication -> User Management -> MAC Devices -> Import.

Then select the file and save.

Note:

Any MAC device can be assigned to a user in the device settings on FortiAuthenticator as well.

Note:

If the devices are exported from FortiAuthenticator as a .csv file, then the MAC addresses of the devices become a single line of digits, and the MAC address syntax is changed. It needs to be edited in order to be able to re-import them.
