This article describes the situation when FortiAuthenticator is unable to send SMS messages. When triggered with an error message, 'FortiGuard server failed sending SMS because message is too long'.
An error is appearing because the Characters in the Activation message are too long.
|
| Scope | FortiAuthenticator. |
| Solution |
To fix it, go to System -> Administration -> Replacement Message.
Choose the relevant SMS replacement message section. Select 'FortiToken Mobile Activation SMS Message'.
Navigate to System -> Administration -> Replacement Message -> Select 'FortiToken Mobile Activation SMS Message', and a warning is displayed showing that some SMS gateways would not be able to process this if the character count exceeds.
Shorten the message in this section, and the warning is no longer seen.
Removing some characters if customized or from the default replacement message to make it shorter, afterwards, attempting to resend the SMS to the intended user should succeed. |
