Technical Tip: Upgrading FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer best practice

Description	This article describes things to process before upgrading FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer. Check the proper system resources for the upgraded version. (example for FMG KVM in 7.4.2).

Solution	Go to the product and version below: Docs Fortinet -> Select product -> Select version -> Release Information: Go through all of the documentation before performing any upgrading activity. Note: All of the URLs below are from FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer v7.4.2 as an example. FortiManager v7.4.2 release notes and FortiAnalyzer v7.4.2 release notes. FortiManager upgrade guide 7.4.2 and FortiAnalyzer upgrade guide 7.4.2. FortiManager supported models 7.4.2 and FortiAnalyzer supported models of 7.4.2. Check the Fortigate OS version compatibility for the FortiManager and the FortiAnalyzer versions in use by using the compatibility tool. Use the FortiManager upgrade path tool and FortiAnalyzer upgrade path tool. Or see the 'Upgrade Paths' under the Upgrade Guide for FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer. Be aware of the 'Special Notices' and 'Known Issues' under the Release Notes. Perform necessary backups before the upgrade: Config backup. Logs backup. VM snapshot (for VM environments). Downgrading results in the configuration are a loss. A system reset is required after the downgrade: execute reset {all-settings | all-except-ip} execute format {disk | disk-ext4 | disk-ext3} Note: The above commands will remove device settings and logs.
