Description This article describes how to request information about the next firmware release date and how to manage the shared information.
Scope All Fortinet products.
Solution
  1. Open a Fortinet CSS ticket to query about the specific version release date.
  2. Another possible scenario is that during the interaction of a ticket, the TAC engineer determined a match for a known bug, and such a bug has a fix confirmation for a non-released version, it is possible to request the date of release date for that firmware version.
  3. If approved, shared output might be in the following format:

Release Release Date Release Buffer Date
7.4.X 2025-X-X 2025-Y-Y

  1. The information can also be general, like 'first week of May or mid July'.
  2. There are 2 important things to be considered:
  • The decision to share this information, as it is internal and reserved, depends on Engineer's criteria and Manager approval. There are others stakeholders that might interact into this dynamic like SE or SEL.
  • If approved, the shared information should be taken as an approximate ETA. There are some times when the initial date is postponed by the development team, this might happen without any previous advice.

  1. To check the date of an already released firmware, it can be consulted as explained in the following KB article: Technical Tip: Find the release date of FortiOS firmware versions.
