Description
This article describes how to reuse or reapply an existing FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer VM license.
For this demonstration, a free trial license for FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer VM running firmware version 7.0.0 will be installed in the new VM. Subsequently, a fully valid FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer license will be used to overwrite the free trial license.
Scope
FortiAnalyzer.
Solution
Activating a free trial of FortiManager VM
Activating a free trial of FortiAnalyzer VM
Once the trial license has been activated, the serial number and license information will be shown under System Settings. The VM License option displays Trial License.
To have a fully valid FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer license, download the license file from the FortiCare support portal (support.fortinet.com) and upload it into the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer VM.
Products -> Product List and select the Product serial number -> License File Download.
Verify the IP Address that is bound to the license. If it is different than what is currently configured in the VM, manually change the IP Address on the license.
Upon changing the IP Address, re-download and upload the license file into the VM on the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer GUI.
Note that upon uploading the fully valid license to the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer VM, the trial license serial number will be overwritten with the serial number associated with the fully valid license.
To avoid license duplication on two separate FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer VMs, it is possible to disable the DNS settings on the old VM before reusing the same license file in the new VM.
Subsequently, it is necessary to decommission or power off the old VM.

FAZ unset primary
FAZ unset secondary
