Description

This article describes a workaround to fix a problem that some Android 11 and Android 12 users might experience when trying to connect to an SSID secured with WPA2-Enterprise authentication.

Scope

Android 11 or earlier.

Solution

Some Android 11+ enforce valid CA certificates that need to be installed on the phone.

Steps to make the STA connect to SSID:

  1. Install the CA certificate locally on the phone, and set the online certificate status to 'Do not verify'.
  2. Enter the Domain name (required) that should be provided by IT.
  3. Use the same username for Identity and Anonymous Identity.
  4. Enter the correct password.

Note that the CA certificate that needs to be installed has nothing to do with FortiGate but rather with the RADIUS certificate.
