Description This article describes steps to limit bandwidth on a Bridge-mode SSID.
Scope FortiAP.
Solution

Since traffic flows locally in bridge mode SSID, traffic shaping has to be done in the local client VLAN.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Create a Bridge mode SSID with an Optional VLAN ID tag. In the example below, it is set to 30.

  1. Go to Policy and Objects -> Traffic shaping -> Traffic shapers and select 'Create New'. (In the example below speed limit is set to 15 Mbps).

  1. Go to Policy and Objects -> Traffic shaping -> Traffic shaping policy and select 'Create New' on the FortiGate GUI. Choose the source and outgoing interface for the traffic and enable the 'Apply shaper' option, and choose the traffic shaper created in step 2, and select 'OK'.

Once the configuration is done, the speed will be limited to 15 Mbps for any client connected to this VLAN.
