Description

This article describes how to get advice about recommended FortiAP software releases.

Scope

FortiAP.

Solution

As a difference from FortiGates, there is no such thing as maturity levels for FortiAP FortiOS.

Fortinet only recommends software versions of FortiAP OS in the following cases:

  1. Compatibility between other Security Fabric components, for example, FortiAP and FortiOS 7.x Compatibility Matrix.
  2. If the user wants to use a new feature that is not available in a previous version.
  3. If, as a TAC's recommendation, a specific version contains a feature correction.

For 1, the Compatibility Matrix mentions the earliest supported FortiAP release for each FortiOS version. Consider FortiAP-U has a different development model, and the latest releases are on v7.0.x branch.

For 2 or 3, it is recommended to review the release notes according to the environment in which the product is being used. I.e., for the latest v7.6.2 GA FortiAP release, refer to the FortiAP Release Notes.

If there is a specific inquiry about any of the problems documented in the above links, reach TAC by raising a new ticket to get information on whether a known issue may affect the current user network environment.
