Hi John, I am using 2 MC4200 controllers at the Hotel I work at, and 1 seems to have a faulty SD card, as the system cannot find a boot device. The other controller is stuck in a reboot cycle. It shows a Grub screen, but does not load System Director.

As I don't have a maintenance contract, could you provide links to download the MC4200 image ?

Hi Martin,

Not sure if you still need this, linked below is the image file for the MC1500, latest code version being 6.1-1-100.
The MC1500 will not support 6.1-3. The AP832 is supported from SD 5.3 onwards hence should run with this code version.

You'll need to open up the MC1500, remove the compact flash card, connect it to your PC and use an imaging tool, such as Win-Image to load the image file onto the compact flash card.
Once complete, you can then put the card back into the MC1500 and it should boot up ok. Then run setup via CLI etc.

Hi John

Thank you for this. I have manage to get a version 6.1.25 after a long time. It seems to work, but haven't really gone through it thoroughly. I just wanted to get the wifi up and running. I will download this as a backup tho, so I can go back to 6.1.1 instead of the v4...

Hi Chami, what controller version and flash image are you after? Assuming you have a corrupt flash card? I'd rather provide you a stable release instead.

What model AP's do you have?

The latest versions of code i.e. System Director (SD) 7.0-13 and SD 8.4-1 no longer require AP licenses. This means the controller will natively support the maximum number of APs. i.e. 500 APs are supported on the MC4200.

If you are using older 802.11n access points (i.e. AP320i) i suggest using SD 7.0-13.

You can download the image for SD 7.0-13 here;

Hi Chami,

Here's a temp link for SD 8.4-7.

If you have a backup you'll need the right version to restore it to. Alternatively, you can just dump in the parts of the config that are relevant via CLI. i.e. security profiles, ESS profiles, etc.

Dear Sir,

If you do have meru-8.5-0build-6-MC4200 full os image, that is even better. I can upgrade to 8.5 but sometimes it says disk is full and pain to go through it.

I do have one more type controller with 7.0-8-0  MC3200 with AP320i. That is the most up to date for those.
If you do have full os image for 7.0-8-0-MC3200, please share.

When I format compact flash card, is it exFat or Fat32 is used?

Thank You So Much.
Regards,
CHAMI
