CLI session hung at "Auto backup config ..." after issuing the command "exit".

On one of our 100D Fortigates, running v5.4.1 OS, I added NetFlow configurations from the CLI, launched from within the GUI.  The Netflow configurations were successful, as I my collector started showing data immediately.  However, when I tried to exit from the CLI session, this is what I saw:

FIREWALL_NAME # exit
Auto backup config ...

Normally, that would have progressed to this:

FIREWALL_NAME # exit
Auto backup config ...
Connection lost.

But instead, the CLI session hung on "Auto backup config...".  I had no choice but to close the CLI window manually.

How do I know if the changes I made are persistent?  Were they saved?  How can I test or correct that hang?

Thanks.

I'm new to using these firewalls, and could really use some help here.  Does anyone read these posts?
