This article describes the difference between the Entitlement file and the license key from the support portal. |
| Scope | Support portal and FortiManager. |
| Solution |
When FortiManager is in a closed network, it evaluates the license of FortiGate based on the entitlement file located in the support portal.
Consequently, when a user configures FortiManager in a closed network, it is necessary to request the entitlement file from Fortinet Customer Service support and upload it to FortiManager. See this document: Requesting account entitlement files to know how to request account entitlement files.
If a user buys a new key or registers a new key, FortiManager cannot evaluate the key.
For example: In a case where a user is using the 'FortiGate-VMUL' Serial-Number: This FortiGate serial number does not contain any VDOM license, and the user needs to add a VDOM license.
After the user buys or adds the VDOM license, it is not FortiManager's task to evaluate the license, even though FortiManager acts as a local FDS.
To ensure the VDOM exists in FortiGate, run the following command:
execute upd-vd-license < VDOM KEY LICENSE FROM SUPPORT PORTAL >
For example:
execute upd-vd-license
FortiGate needs to update the VDOM license, as the VDOM license is not part of the Entitlement file.
After running the command, it is possible to check from FortiGate:
get system status Max number of virtual domains: 10 |
