This article outlines the compatibility of FortiToken Mobile licenses with new HA FortiGates that use Logic/Virtual Serial Numbers.
Scope
FortiOS v7.2.12 and later, v7.4.9 and later. HA FortiGate SKUs: FGXXXHA.
Solution
HA-SKU FortiGates with the single FortiGuard license feature enabled have additional requirements for successful FortiToken registration.
Requirements:
FortiToken Mobile license shipped after August 4, 2025.
Compatible FortiOS version (v7.2.12, v7.4.9 or later)
Note that FortiOS v7.6.4 does not support FortiToken Mobile for HA-SKU. FortiToken Mobile support is scheduled for inclusion in v7.6.5 and tracked by issue ID 1163147. See FortiOS v7.4.9 Release Notes | Resolved Issues.
FortiToken Mobile licenses created or shipped after August 4, 2025, are fully compatible with HA-SKU FortiGate clusters. These licenses must be activated using the device’s Virtual Serial Number (VSN).
FortiToken Mobile licenses purchased before August 4, 2025, are not compatible with the HA-SKU FortiGate clusters and cannot be registered or transferred to devices using the Logic/Virtual Serial Number (e.g., FGXXXXHAXXXXXXXX).
