VOS (Virus Outbreak Protection Service)
What is the Virus Outbreak Protection Service?
- Virus Outbreak Protection Service (VOS) is a new FortiGuard service that provides malware detection for the latest emerging threats discovered between your antivirus signature updates. If your antivirus scan finds no detection, then VOS initiates a real-time hash lookup to the FortiGuard Server with our Global Threat Intelligence database, which contains up-to-date hashes of the all new malware in our threat library. VOS will always have the hashes of the latest malware detected by FortiSandbox.
When will the Virus Outbreak Protection Service be available, and how can I get the service?
- FortiGate: When you purchase the FortiSandbox Cloud SKU for FortiGate, you will get the Virus Outbreak Protection Service. VOS will be operational starting with FortiOS 6.0 (voraussichtlich verfügbar Ende März). VOS will automatically become available to customers with an active FortiSandbox Cloud contract who upgrade their FortiGate to FortiOS 6.0. As FortiSandbox Cloud is included in the Enterprise bundle, you will also get VOS with the Enterprise bundle purchase.
- FortiMail: Virus Outbreak Protection Service is currently available as a standalone service for FortiMail.
Is Virus Outbreak Protection Service available for FortiSandbox on premise solution?
- No, Virus Outbreak Service is included with the FortiSandbox Cloud SKU for FortiGate and not the FortiSandbox on-premise solution.
CDR (Content Disarm and Reconstruction Service)
What is the Content Disarm and Reconstruction service?
- Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) is a data sanitation service that strips all active content from files in real-time, essentially creating a flat file. Files will stay in their original format, but all active content is removed. All Microsoft Office and Adobe documents will be treated as suspect with active content erased.
- CDR is a local service run on the appliance that requires both AV & Virus Outbreak Protection (VOS).
How can I purchase the Content Disarm and Reconstruction Service?
- FortiGate: On FortiGate, both Virus Outbreak Protection Service (VOS) and Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) services are included with the purchase of the FortiSandbox Cloud Service SKU for FortiGate. The CDR service will be operational starting with FortiOS 6.0 (voraussichtlich verfügbar Ende März). CDR will automatically become available to customers with an active FortiSandbox Cloud contract who upgrade their FortiGate to FortiOS 6.0. As FortiSandbox Cloud is included in the Enterprise bundle, you will also get the CDR Service with the Enterprise bundle purchase.
- FortiMail: CDR is available for FortiMail starting with 5.4.4 (verfügbar seit 22.01.2018) and the purchase of the Virus Outbreak Protection SKU (which includes CDR).
Can I roll back active content that was removed through the CDR service?
- When the active content is removed, a copy of the original file is sent from FortiGate to FortiSandbox for analysis only – the file will not be retained. If the customer has FortiSandbox on premise, then the FortiGate can be configured to allow downloading of the original file from the FortiSandbox – provided the file was reported clean on FortiSandbox analysis. In FortiOS 6.0, you will also have an option to quarantine the file on the FortiGate. CDR configuration is a firewall policy allowing the CDR feature to be specified per user.
MOBILE MALWARE SERVICE
Wie auf den Stammtischen und in den Sales & Tech Update Webinaren kommuniziert, ist der Mobile Malware Service (ehemals Mobile Security) aus dem Enterprise Bundle in den FortiGuard Antivirus Service gewandert. Dadurch ist der Mobile Malware Service jetzt auch in allen Bundles enthalten (also Threat Protection, UTM und Enterprise).
Offen war noch folgende Frage, die wir nun für Sie klären konnten: Are all customers with an active AV-subscription receiving the mobile malware signatures already?
- Yes, mobile signatures are already in the AV signatures.
FORTIGATE VMs mit VDOMs
Concerning the End of Order of FortiGate VM VDOM SKUs: We are now withdrawing the End of Order notification, effective immediately, which we had planned for Q2 2018. All FortiGate VM VDOM SKUs will remain on the price list.
NEUE Q1 PREISLISTE
Seit dem 26. Februar gilt die neue Q1 Preisliste. D.h. jetzt können wir auch die preislichen Veränderungen kommunizieren. Sie finden die Preisliste übrigens wie gewohnt direkt auf der Startseite vom Partnerportal. Alle Preise sind empfohlene Endkundenpreise ("Listenpreise").
Zunächst gibt es ein verbessertes Preisverhältnis von Service zu Hardware:
- FortiCare 360 35% →30% vom Preis der Hardware pro Jahr
- FortiCare 24x7 25% →20% vom Preis der Hardware pro Jahr
- FortiCare 8x5 unverändert bei 15% vom Preis der Hardware pro Jahr
- Bundles aus Hardware, FortiCare & FortiGuard sind von dieser Änderungen nicht betroffen
Und wahrscheinlich ist es Ihnen bereits aufgefallen: Die meisten SKUs sind ein paar Prozentpunkte günstiger geworden, wegen eines geänderten internen Dollar-Umrechnungskurses.
