Question

will the fortigate firewall affect the browser language?

Hi, we migrated the firewall from checkpoint to fortinet last week. Now the users complained the browser Edge and Chrome were  automatically changed to other country language. It seems related to fortigate firewall config. Can you someone please advise the possible cause? thanks.

Hello @WQTpicap ,

Normally, this should not be related to FortiGate.

You can test it like this:

- Remove all security features on firewall policy (Which rule is used for internet traffic)
- Connect the client to the internet with another internet source, for example, a mobile phone internet

Let me know if anything changes in both scenarios after trying.

Thanks @ozkanaltas , the issue is not consistent. After we re-choose language on web browsers, it doesn't occur again. As it is production env, can't remove the security profile to test.

Hi @WQTpicap

What is your FGT firmware version?  Do you apply any settings as below in any firewall policy for HTTP/HTTPS traffic?

1) Web Proxy / SSL Inspection

2) Web Filtering / Safe Search Enforcement

Or do you have any other Fortinet products, such as FortiWeb?

Hi @dingjerry_FTNT , thanks for your advice.

our fw os version is v7.2.7 build1577. Web proxy and SSL inspection both are enabled. Web filtering is enabled based on the windows AD user groups , which is configured on FortiAuth.

Hi @WQTpicap ,

Is it possible to provide us with the web proxy and SSL Inspection profile configurations?  As well as the web filter profile, please.
