Question

Whos' running 7.6 or the latest code?

I recently upgraded to 7.4.10 M build.

I also have 2 S148FP switches running 7.6.4.1114,250821 GA release.

All is stable.

Is anyone running the latest code of 7.6.x, and if so - any issues?

 

Not used to all the CISC alerts on this product line but do keep up with them and make adjustments as needed.

I currently have several devices running 7.6.5, and so far I haven’t experienced any major issues.

 

One thing to keep in mind is that starting with 7.6.3, SSL VPN is no longer available, and IPsec VPN connections must use IKEv2.

 

Additionally, if you are using FortiSwitch in FortiLink mode, make sure to follow the compatibility matrix, which you can validate at the following link:

I'm not using sslvpn, but do have dialup ipsec clients with ldap using client version 7.4.3.x.  Haven't made the 'jump' yet to the higher versions. It's all a little confusing between the switches/ap/firewall with versioning still for me. For instance my current switch o/s is 7.6.4build1114 and there's an upgrade to 7.6.6. The matrix doesn't show 'anything' for the 7.6.6 so should i presume that the switch os version would be, if i upgrade them to 7.6.6 they would be supported with the fw o/s of 7.6.5 or 7.6.6 ? Am I reading that correct?  If so, should i upgrade the fortiswitch os to the 7.6.6 and then upgrade the fw os to 7.6.5 ?

Hi @mark8263 

 

For example, according to the compatibility matrix, if you upgrade the FortiGate to 7.6.6, the recommended FortiSwitch version is also 7.6.6 (you will see an 'R' for 'Recommended' in the matrix). Regarding the FortiAP, the logic is exactly the same: compatibility is always measured against the FortiGate. Therefore, you should look up your specific FortiAP model and cross-reference it with FortiOS version 7.6.6.

 

Always upgrade the FortiGate first, then the FortiSwitch, and finally the FortiAP.
