Web Filter category In Forticlient EMS not working for warning message

FortiClient System Version: 7.2.6 build 1083

We are trying to use ForticlientEMS to warn users when accessing  Artificial Intelligence Technology category under General Instance Business.

We have customised the warning message under System Settings>Custom Messages>WebFilter Custom Message.

But it does not appear to be working, when users are accessing AI sites it does not show the warning message.

Is there anything I am doing wrong?FortiClient Custom Message.pngFortiClient Web Filtering.png

Did you install the web filter plugin on the browser?

Did you try with other browsers?

Does the web filtering for other categories work?

Yes, I can see the plugin on browser.

Only allowed to use Edge, not possible to use other browser.

Web Filtering works other categories also it works when I use Block option for Generative AI but not when I select Warn option.

We do not want to block these sites only want to warn users about not putting PI information on those sites.

I suggest to try with other browsers (but you said you can't), just to try to see if it is browser related.

Hi dnandi,

I just did a quick test with EMS 7.2.7 and FCT 7.2.6, it worked fine in Chrome as per my testing:

even after add a long paragraph like yours:

May I know what is your EMS version?

EMS System Version: 7.2.6 build 1083

FortiClient Version: 7.2.3.0929

Does it work on Edge for you?

Yes, Edge is working fine too. Perhaps you can try upgrading EMS to 7.2.7 (this is a quick succession of 7.2.6),a nd also use the latest FCT 7.2.7.

(there is almost no reason to stay in 7.2.3)

Agree with Bon

You should update to 7.2.7. Many bugs have been fixed after 7.2.3. The below may be related.

884420 Web Filter extension does not categorize sites properly.
1036511 FortiClient (Windows) identifies ChatGPT as Informationstechnologie and not artificial intelligence.

Hope it helps.
